Balloon Fiesta Park

Use the northern entrance from I-25 Exit 234 and Balloon Fiesta Parkway for special events and field activities. Use the southern entrance from I-25 Exit 233, Alameda Road, and Balloon Museum Drive for the Golf and Event Center, Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion, and Balloon Museum.

Ordinary public use is generally free, but major festivals and events may charge admission or parking. Museum admission, golf, reservations, special activities, and a $25 annual automated vehicle gate card are separate.

The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is on the park's southern side at 9201 Balloon Museum Drive. It is a separately operated museum with its own admission and schedule, normally Tuesday through Sunday, and expanded hours during Balloon Fiesta.

The launch field is a broad, high-desert event space with very little dependable natural shade. The Event Center, Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion, Public Safety Building, and Balloon Museum are not general-purpose shelters and may be closed, reserved, ticketed, or restricted by an event. Bring water and sun protection for ordinary visits; during lightning, high wind, dust, or dangerous heat, return to an open substantial building or vehicle rather than remaining on the field.

Paved multi-use routes connect Balloon Museum Drive, the North Diversion Channel Trail, Alameda Trail, museum area, and major park entrances. Inside the park, the 86-acre launch field is mostly broad turf with paved roads and paths around it; grass can be uneven, soft, dusty, muddy, or covered by temporary event flooring and barriers. Balloon Fiesta and other large events create long walks and event-specific accessible routes, so use that event's current map rather than the ordinary daily-use layout.

Balloon Fiesta Park does not advertise a conventional daily-use playground. During the ticketed Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, family activities include the hands-on Balloon Discovery Center, entertainment, and an event Kids Zone shown on the current guest map; these are temporary event features, not year-round park amenities. Outside major events, use the park for scheduled recreation, trails, fields, and museum-area visits, and choose another Albuquerque park for swings or slides. During Fiesta, follow the current map and keep children close on the active launch field.

During Balloon Fiesta sessions, guests may bring food, folding chairs, blankets, and a soft-sided cooler or bag, but security will inspect belongings. Glass, alcohol, hard-sided coolers, smoking, and pets other than service animals are prohibited. A limited number of picnic tables and benches are on the east side of the Launch Field along Main Street, so bring a chair or blanket rather than relying on a table. Rules for ordinary non-event park use can differ by scheduled activity.

No splash pad or public swimming pool is listed at Balloon Fiesta Park. The site is a large launch field and event venue, and temporary event installations should not be mistaken for permanent water play. Albuquerque's operating spray pads are at separately named locations such as Alamosa, Phil Chacon Park, and Civic Plaza, each with seasonal hours and maintenance closures; check the live City list before visiting.
