Pavilions are not safe in lightning or dangerous wind; use an open substantial building or vehicle and follow waterfront closure notices during severe weather.

Pets may use Liberty State Park's paths, promenade, lawns, and ordinary outdoor areas while kept under control on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Owners must clean up after them, and the park has no designated off-leash area. Swimming is prohibited for all visitors, and individual buildings, ferry operations, events, playgrounds, and sensitive natural areas may have additional posted restrictions.

Groups of 20 or fewer may use up to two first-come brown tables and one nearby grill, or picnic on the lawn, without a permit. Groups of 20-50 must reserve one of seven free open-air group sites; larger groups can rent Pavilion A for up to 120 or Pavilion B for up to 80. Alcohol, propane grills, wood fires, generators, and extra tables are prohibited.

No current splash pad or swimming area is open at Liberty State Park, and New Jersey's park rules explicitly prohibit swimming. A splash pad is part of the planned southern-jetties revitalization, but it is a future project and should not be treated as an existing amenity. The Hudson River, marina, launches, and shoreline are for views, boating, fishing, and crabbing under their specific rules, not wading or swimming.

Yes. New Jersey lists no entrance fee for Liberty State Park. Ferry tickets, boat-launch permits, pavilion rentals, food, marina services, Liberty Science Center admission, and some transportation or parking options are separate costs.
