The Quarry at Grant Park

1790 Quarry Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Enter from Reynolds Park Road beside William R. Anderson Recreation Center rather than approaching the quarry rim from an unmapped side.

Use the signed entrance from Reynolds Park Road and the park lot near William R. Anderson Recreation Center. The Waughtown Connector also provides pedestrian and bicycle access.

The park is open sunrise to sunset. Leave enough time to return from overlooks and trails before dark, and follow posted gate or event times.

General park, overlook, lawn, and trail access are free. Reserved events, programs, and nearby recreation facilities may have separate fees.

Restrooms and drinking fountains are listed park features near the developed arrival and amphitheater area; do not assume facilities are available at every overlook.

The developed entrance, broad paths, overlook areas, amphitheater, lawn, and restrooms provide accessible options, though grades and exact overlook approaches vary.

Developed walking paths connect the main overlook pier, secondary viewpoints, lawn, and greenway access. Stay on designated routes and behind barriers around the steep quarry rim.

The skyline and quarry views, lawn, amphitheater, and manageable walking routes work for a scenic family stop. Closely supervise children because the water and cliffs are not recreation areas.

Leashed dogs are allowed under posted park rules. Keep them behind barriers, away from cliff edges and wildlife, and remove waste.

The open lawn can support a simple visit, but the park does not list picnic shelters or grills. Organized gatherings and amphitheater use require City approval.

The signature landmark is the overlook pier extending toward the flooded quarry, with additional overlooks, amphitheater, skyline view, and Waughtown Connector access.

Severe weather, ice, maintenance, events, or unsafe overlook conditions can restrict access. Swimming, diving, fishing, boating, kayaking, and entering the quarry water are prohibited.
