Wilmington Riverwalk

The 1.75-mile route runs along the Cape Fear River from Nun Street on the south to the Isabel Holmes Bridge on the north. Orange Street Landing is a useful central historic access point; choose parking for the segment you plan to visit.

Use a City deck or legal downtown street space near your chosen segment. River Place Deck at 14 Grace Street is central; Market and Second Street decks serve the historic core, while the Convention Center deck serves the north. Rates and event pricing vary.

Use the public Riverwalk according to posted waterfront, construction, docking, and adjacent-property conditions. Shops, museums, restrooms, docks, parks, and events use separate hours.

Walking the public Riverwalk is free. Downtown parking, museums, tours, dining, docking, events, and attractions may charge separately.

Restroom availability comes from adjacent public facilities, parks, businesses, museums, and event venues rather than continuous Riverwalk facilities. Plan stops before a full out-and-back.

Several audited downtown entrances, including Orange Street, Mueter's Alley and Dock Street, have compliant routes and ramps. Deck replacement, temporary detours, steep transitions, docks, crowds, and individual buildings can change the best route.

The Riverwalk extends 1.75 miles one way on waterfront decking and developed paths. A full out-and-back is 3.5 miles; construction, crowds, dining activity, and event zones can narrow or redirect sections.

Families can choose a short central section for river views, boats, public art, food, museums, and historic signs instead of walking the full out-and-back distance.

Leashed dogs may use ordinary public sections subject to posted rules. Keep pets controlled around crowds, restaurant patios, docks, bicycles, events, wildlife, and temporary construction paths.

Use designated public seating and parks without blocking the waterfront route. Food, alcohol, large setups, and events are governed by the exact adjacent property and social-district rules.
