High Point Greenway

For the southern endpoint use Armstrong Park; University Park at 1800 Deep River Road, Piedmont Environmental Center at 1220 Penny Road, and Legion Lot at 1102 Penny Road provide additional access along the 4.9-mile route.

Access is available at Armstrong Park, Kirkman Park School where permitted, University Park, Piedmont Environmental Center, Legion Lot, and City Lake Park. Choose a segment and return plan before starting.

Use the greenway during daylight and posted connected-park hours. Flooding, boardwalk conditions, construction, storms, maintenance, and events can affect sections.

General greenway access is free. Connected attractions, programs, events, rentals, and parking restrictions may have separate costs.

Restrooms are available at Piedmont Environmental Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and at City Lake Park and some connected facilities during operating conditions, not continuously along the route.

The route is paved and includes long boardwalk sections, but grades, crossings, wet surfaces, construction, and trailhead connections vary. Confirm the segment most appropriate for current mobility needs.

Official segment distances total 4.9 miles from Armstrong Park to PEC, plus a 0.4-mile connection toward City Lake Park. Keep right, pass left, and announce bicycle passes.

Short sections from University Park, PEC, or City Lake Park pair trail time with facilities and activities. Supervise children at road crossings, bridges, boardwalks, water, and bicycle traffic.

Leashed dogs may use the trail where posted rules permit. Keep leashes short around cyclists and crossings, remove waste, and follow connected-park rules.

Use designated areas in connected parks rather than blocking the shared path. Reserve shelters for guaranteed group use.

The route connects Armstrong Park, East Lexington Avenue, University Park, Piedmont Environmental Center, Legion Lot, City Lake Park Trail, and Bicentennial Greenway.

Flooding, storms, icy boardwalks, bridge or utility work, construction, and park closures can interrupt segments. Check City trail notices after severe weather.
