Bicentennial Greenway

For the High Point end use Piedmont Environmental Center at 1220 Penny Road. Other official accesses include Jamestown Park at 7041 East Fork Road, Gibson Park at 5207 West Wendover Avenue, 4125 Piedmont Parkway, and Gallimore Dairy Road.

Use PEC, Jamestown Park, Gibson Park, Piedmont Parkway, or Gallimore Dairy Road access for the segment you plan. Confirm legal parking and a return strategy for a long one-way trip.

Use the greenway during daylight and posted trailhead-park hours. Construction, road crossings, flooding, storms, maintenance, and events can alter access.

General greenway access is free. Programs, connected attractions, events, and parking restrictions may have separate costs.

Restrooms are available at PEC from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and at some connected parks during their operating conditions. Plan as though long intermediate stretches have no facilities.

The shared-use route is developed, but steeper sections northeast of PEC include stairs with a bicycle wheel channel, and crossings, grades, surfaces, and trailhead routes vary. It is not uniformly step-free end to end.

The High Point section is 6.2 miles: 1.1 miles PEC to East Fork Road, 2.2 to Gibson Park, 1.8 to Piedmont Parkway, and 1.1 to Gallimore Dairy Road.

Choose a short park-to-park out-and-back rather than the full 6.2 miles with children. Account for grades, stairs, road crossings, water, and faster bicycle traffic.

Leashed dogs may use the greenway where posted rules permit. Keep leashes short around bicycles and crossings, remove waste, and follow rules at each connected park.

Use designated areas at PEC, Jamestown Park, Gibson Park, or other connected parks rather than stopping across the path. Reserve facilities for organized groups.

Connections include PEC, High Point Greenway, Jamestown Park, East Fork Road bridge area, Gibson Park, Piedmont Parkway, Gallimore Dairy Road, and the broader Greensboro trail system.

Steep and stair sections, construction, road projects, flooding, storms, ice, events, and jurisdiction-specific maintenance can affect the route. Check both City and County notices before a through-trip.
