Avon and Catawba Creek Greenway

Use Lineberger Park at 632 East Garrison Boulevard for a developed central trailhead with parking and restrooms. The connected corridor runs along Avon and Catawba creeks toward Ferguson Park and the Robinwood Road area.

Lineberger Park's Chestnut Street lot is the most developed central access. Additional access exists near Ferguson Park and Robinwood Road; use only signed public parking and plan a return for longer one-way trips.

Use the greenway during daylight and posted connected-park hours. Creek flooding, underpass conditions, construction, drought work, maintenance, and Garrison corridor projects can affect segments.

General greenway access is free. Connected aquatic facilities, programs, shelter rentals, events, and nearby attractions may charge separately.

Lineberger Park provides restrooms and water fountains during operating conditions. Do not assume continuous facilities along the creek corridor; verify amenities at the exact access point you choose.

The principal route is paved, but grades, creek bridges, underpasses, crossings, flooding, construction detours, and trailhead connections vary. Current Garrison improvements may temporarily change the best step-free approach.

The Catawba Creek section includes roughly 1.8 miles from Robinwood Road westward, while the connected Avon section reaches Lineberger Park and toward Ferguson Park. Consult the current City map for open extensions rather than relying on planned mileage.

A short out-and-back from Lineberger Park pairs the greenway with a playground, memorial, shelters, restrooms, and seasonal aquatic options. Supervise children around water, bridges, underpasses, crossings, and bicycle traffic.

Leashed dogs may use the greenway where posted rules permit. Keep leashes short around cyclists and crossings, remove waste, and follow rules at Lineberger and Ferguson parks.

Use designated lawns, tables, and shelters in connected parks rather than blocking the shared path. Reserve shelters for guaranteed group use.
