Lake Michie Park and Marina

2802 Bahama Road, Bahama, NC 27503. Do not travel to the entrance while the facility remains closed to all activity.

The official entrance is 2802 Bahama Road, but visitors should not travel there during the full closure. Wait for a City lake alert confirming reopening and safe access.

Closed to all activity until further notice because of low water. Normal 2026 seasonal hours are suspended; reopening requires an explicit Durham Parks and Recreation update.

No activity or admission is currently available. After reopening, fishing, launch, boat, motor, and rental fees apply according to current City resident and nonresident rates.

The normal facility includes an ADA-accessible boathouse, dock, and canoe or kayak launch. Low water makes all activity unsafe, so those features are currently unavailable.

Lake Michie is a water-access and fishing destination rather than a trail park. Shore, dock, ramp, and launch conditions depend directly on water level and operations.

Fishing, picnicking, and boating can support family visits when the lake is safely open. At present, no family or recreational activity is permitted.

Do not bring a dog to the closed facility. After reopening, follow marina, dock, water-supply, leash, and boat rules.

Picnic tables normally support simple lake visits, but all picnic and shoreline use is prohibited during the full closure.

Visitor facilities normally include the marina, boathouse, fishing dock, boat launch, and canoe and kayak access on Lake Michie.

Lake Michie Park and Marina has been closed to all activity since June 5, 2026 due to low water levels and will remain closed until the City determines conditions are safe.
