McAlpine Creek Community Park

The park and greenway are open during posted daylight hours. Dog-park access, organized races, maintenance and flood conditions can affect individual areas.

Free parking is available from Monroe Road in lots serving the lake, dog park and course, with roughly 285 spaces in the county inventory. Race days and peak dog-park periods can fill the closest sections.

Use 8711 Monroe Road, then follow signs for the dog park, fishing lake or cross-country course. The wetlands and greenway extend well beyond the central lot, so save the correct mapped subsite.

Developed park facilities include restrooms, but availability can vary by hour, event and maintenance. The longer greenway and wetland routes do not offer continuous restroom or water access.

General park, greenway, dog park, lake and course access are free. A North Carolina fishing license is required where applicable for anglers age 16 and older; organized events may charge.

Developed parking, the fishing pier and principal paved greenway support broader access, but the county inventory does not mark the overall park ADA accessible. Wetland edges, cross-country surfaces, flooding and unpaved connectors vary.

Ray's Fetching Meadow is the designated fenced off-leash area. Outside it, dogs must be leashed; follow posted small/large-dog arrangements, remove waste and avoid crowded gates.

Wildlife viewing, the fishing lake and paved greenway can work well for families, but this is not primarily a playground park. Closely supervise children near water, fast bicycles, dogs and active race routes.

CATS serves the Monroe Road corridor. Confirm the safest pedestrian approach because the roadway is busy and the useful park destinations sit back from the street.

Low areas and greenway segments can flood after heavy rain, and wetland insects are active in warm months. Check closures before a long run, carry water, and do not enter standing or moving floodwater.
