Freedom Park Lake

Freedom Park Lake is a water-edge destination at Freedom Park; supervise children, follow fishing rules and do not assume swimming or lifeguard coverage is available.

Free public parking is spread among lots near Cumberland Avenue, East Boulevard and the sports facilities. The park has roughly 400 spaces, but festivals, league games and peak weekends can fill them; never park on grass or in reserved spaces.

Park grounds are open during posted daylight hours. The Mahlon Adams Pavilion, concessions, restrooms, athletic facilities, events and construction zones may follow shorter or reservation-based schedules. This feature may have shorter, seasonal or daylight-only hours.

Permanent restrooms serve developed areas near the pavilion, playground and athletic facilities, but hours can be shorter than park grounds and temporary closures occur during maintenance or construction.

General park, playground, lake loop, gardens and greenway access are free. Pavilion and shelter reservations, programs, concessions, sports permits and special events may charge.

ADA parking and paved routes connect major developed facilities, and the lake loop is largely paved. Grades, crowded events, construction detours, lawn areas and some older facility approaches can affect the easiest route.

Leashed dogs are allowed in general park areas. Keep them out of playgrounds and athletic fields, control them around ducks and geese, and remove all waste.

Multiple playgrounds, the Play 60 course, lake loop, open lawns and frequent activity make Freedom Park one of Charlotte's strongest family destinations. The lake is not a swimming area and children need close supervision beside water and bicycles.

Check current county notices and choose a meeting point before arriving because a general Freedom Park pin is too broad.

CATS buses serve East Boulevard and surrounding neighborhoods. The urban greenway also provides a practical walking and bicycling approach from Midtown and nearby neighborhoods.
