Apex Community Park

Main park entrance: 2200 Laura Duncan Road, Apex, NC 27502. Lake Trail entrance: 1808 Lake Pine Drive, Cary, NC 27511. Use the Laura Duncan Road side for the designated vessel launch and main recreation facilities.

Choose your entrance before arriving. Laura Duncan Road serves the main recreation area and the only designated hand-carry vessel launch; Lake Pine Drive serves the lake trail side. Lots can fill during leagues and events.

The Town lists the park as open daily from 6:30 am to 10 pm year-round. Fishing and boating are limited to 6:30 am through sunset, and fields, facilities, projects, and reservations may have separate availability.

General park, playground, trail, court, and picnic access is free. Fishing requires a Town of Apex permit and, for anglers age 16 and older, a North Carolina fishing license. Launching a vessel requires a Town seasonal permit; shelters and fields may have fees.

Restroom facilities serve the developed park areas. Their exact proximity depends on which entrance and activity area you use, so lake-trail visitors should plan around the current park map.

The fishing pier is wheelchair accessible, and developed areas include paved routes. The Town is planning inclusive playground and ADA-route improvements; natural trail surfaces, grades, older routes, and construction conditions vary.

The park has more than three miles of trails: about two miles of paved greenway and one mile of natural walking trail. The two entrances reach different portions of the lake loop, so confirm your intended route and turnaround.

Playgrounds, swings, lake views, trails, picnic areas, courts, and the fitness course support mixed-age visits. Swimming and wading are prohibited; supervise children closely near the lake, dock, launch, and bicycle traffic.

Leashed dogs may use permitted park and trail areas. Keep leashes short on shared paths, remove waste, and keep pets outside playgrounds, athletic fields, buildings, and other posted restricted areas.

Large and small shelters and picnic areas with grills are available. Reserve shelters for guaranteed group use and use the Laura Duncan Road entrance for the principal shelter and launch area.

Important reference points include the Laura Duncan Road main entrance, Lake Pine Drive trail entrance, 50-plus-acre lake, wheelchair-accessible fishing dock, designated hand-carry vessel launch, playground, shelters, Elevate Fitness Course, hockey rinks, courts, and ball fields.

The playground area is in a renovation planning process, and survey work or later construction may affect nearby routes. Athletic fields can close for turf renovation; check current Town maintenance notices before a field-dependent visit.
