Gateway Arch National Park

Arch grounds and Luther Ely Smith Square are open daily 5:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. The Visitor Center and museum are generally 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., with extended summer Friday-Saturday hours; the Old Courthouse is generally 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Holiday exceptions apply.

The National Park Service operates no on-site parking. Stadium East Garage at 200 South Broadway participates in a preferred parking program; prepay and expect event pricing or limited supply during Cardinals games and downtown events.

Enter the Arch through the west entrance facing Fourth Street and the Old Courthouse. The legs are exits only. Ticket holders should arrive early enough for the walk and airport-style security screening.

Public restrooms are inside the Arch Visitor Center after entry and at the Old Courthouse during building hours. The outdoor grounds and riverfront do not guarantee a nearby open restroom at all times.

Grounds, museum and Old Courthouse are free. Tram rides, documentary film packages, riverboat cruises, parking, food and retail cost separately; advance tram tickets are strongly recommended in busy periods.

Grounds, museum and Old Courthouse provide accessible routes and services. The tram to the top is not wheelchair accessible and requires managing at least 96 steps in an emergency; there are no restrooms or benches at the observation deck.

Leashed pets are allowed on outdoor grounds under park rules but not inside federal buildings. Trained service animals may enter public facilities subject to NPS requirements.

The free museum, Junior Ranger activities, outdoor grounds, Old Courthouse and river views work well for families. Tram capsules are enclosed and compact, and security plus timed tickets add arrival time.

MetroLink serves the 8th & Pine and Laclede's Landing areas, and downtown buses reach nearby streets. Walking from downtown attractions is often easier than moving a parked car.

Tram tickets often sell out during busy summer days. All indoor Arch visitors pass airport-style security with weapons, pepper spray and similar items prohibited; severe weather can suspend tram, grounds or riverboat operations.

Check the St. Louis forecast for thunderstorms, tornado or wind alerts, heat and air quality, flooding, ice, and current operator notices. Water features, wildlife drives, trails, river access, cruises, events and outdoor attractions can close independently as conditions change.
