Theodore Wirth Regional Park

Developed areas are generally open 6:00 a.m.-midnight and undeveloped areas 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. The Trailhead, gardens, beach, golf, rentals, ski trails, and winter operations keep separate schedules.

Use The Trailhead lots for central recreation, Wirth Beach for lake and cycling access, or the small metered garden and bog lots. Event and winter demand can fill lots; parkway shoulder parking is restricted.

Theodore Wirth is larger than many visitors expect. Choose The Trailhead, beach, Eloise Butler garden, Quaking Bog, golf, or a winter activity before driving.

Restrooms are most dependable at The Trailhead and staffed seasonal facilities. Natural trails, bog paths, garden areas, and remote loops have limited services.

General park and many trails are free. Golf, ski passes, rentals, tubing, lessons, food, parking in selected lots, and events cost separately.

The Trailhead and developed facilities provide accessible access; natural trails, boardwalks, snow, sand, hills, and off-road cycling terrain vary widely.

Leash dogs under park rules and keep them out of beaches, gardens, groomed ski-only routes, and posted facilities. Activity-specific restrictions apply.

Beach, children's garden, easy paths, tubing, skiing, disc golf, and Trailhead facilities offer year-round choices. Match terrain and winter conditions to the youngest participant.

Metro Transit, biking via Luce Line and parkway trails, rideshare, and driving reach different park sections; no single stop serves every destination.

Off-road trails close to all users when wet; if a foot or tire leaves a mark, stay off. Verify ski or tubing operations, beach status, garden season, trail conditions, and current Trailhead food service.

Check the Twin Cities forecast for thunderstorms, heat or air-quality alerts, wind, snow, ice, extreme cold, flooding, and current park notices. Beaches, water features, trails, ski routes, river access, concessions, and outdoor attractions can close independently as conditions change.
