Detroit RiverWalk

The RiverWalk, Conservancy parks and greenways are open daily 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Extended event hours and temporary closures may apply.

Select the intended segment on the Conservancy map before driving. Conservancy parks have associated free first-come lots, while greenway approaches, downtown meters, garages and neighboring attractions use different parking arrangements.

Do not navigate to one generic RiverWalk pin. Pick Ralph Wilson Park, Cullen Plaza, Milliken State Park, Valade Park, Mt. Elliott, Gabriel Richard Park or another named segment and plan the return distance.

Restrooms are available at selected parks and facilities, not continuously along the path. Confirm the nearest open facility on the Conservancy map before starting a long one-way walk or ride.

Walking, cycling, parks and most play spaces are free. Parking outside Conservancy lots, carousel rides, food, rentals, events and neighboring attractions may cost separately.

The main promenade is paved with ramps and seating, but bridge approaches, distance, construction and temporary closures can interrupt a continuous route. Plan around a named segment rather than assuming the entire corridor is equivalent.

Leashed dogs are welcome under Conservancy rules. Keep pets under control, clean up waste and keep them out of play and water features.

Valade's playground and beach, Mt. Elliott splash pad, Cullen carousel and Ralph Wilson Park create strong family stops, but each has separate seasonal operations and the full corridor is too long for many children.

People Mover, QLINE, DDOT buses, MoGo and downtown walking reach different segments; select transit around the intended park and return route rather than the corridor's midpoint.

After 6:00 p.m., visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian age 21 or older. Food, drink and water features are seasonal, swimming is prohibited, and major events can close individual segments.

Check Detroit weather, air quality, river conditions and operator alerts. Heat, snow, ice, storms, high water and seasonal operations can close paths or facilities independently.
