Dequindre Cut

The Dequindre Cut is open daily 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. The Freight Yard, events and portable-restroom service keep shorter seasonal schedules.

The Cut has no designated parking lot. Use legal street parking near the chosen ramp; Freight Yard visitors may use the gravel lot at Wilkins and Orleans or nearby streets.

Official ramps are at Atwater, Franklin, Woodbridge, Lafayette, Gratiot, Wilkins and Mack. Choose the ramp nearest the intended stop before entering the below-grade corridor.

There are no permanent restrooms. The operator places portable toilets near Campbell Terrace from April through October.

The greenway, murals, play elements and fitness equipment are free. Freight Yard food and drink and selected events cost separately.

The Cut has a 20-foot-wide paved path with separate pedestrian and bicycle lanes. Use an official ramp and account for its grade and the distance to the next exit.

Leashed, controlled dogs are allowed under Conservancy rules. Keep pets on the pedestrian side and away from play areas and food service.

Grand Trunks play elements and murals can make a memorable walk, but there are no permanent restrooms and exits are spaced apart.

The RiverWalk, Eastern Market, MoGo and nearby bus routes connect to different ramps; choose transit around the intended entrance and return distance.

The Cut is below street level with limited quick exits. Note the nearest ramp, bring water in heat, and verify the Freight Yard and portable-restroom season before visiting.

Check Detroit weather, air quality, river conditions and operator alerts. Heat, snow, ice, storms, high water and seasonal operations can close paths or facilities independently.
