Couturie Forest and Scout Island

Couturie Forest and Scout Island provide free woodland trails and Laborde Mountain, New Orleans' highest point, with mud, roots, insects, and limited services.

Free parking is distributed across the enormous park. Route to the exact attraction instead of 1 Palm Drive; NOMA, Children's Museum, Carousel Gardens, Couturie Forest, Big Lake, and sports areas use different lots.

Park grounds are open sunrise to sunset every day; museums, gardens, amusement areas, food, rentals, sports facilities, and events keep separate schedules.

Public restrooms are mapped at selected visitor nodes and inside operating attractions; do not assume every playground, trail, or lagoon edge has facilities.

Grounds, four playgrounds, trails, disc golf, Big Lake, Couturie Forest, and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are free. Museums, gardens, rides, mini golf, rentals, food, golf, and events may charge.

Major attractions have accessible parking and routes, but historic paths, forest trails, bridges, roots, lawns, and long distances vary. Select the nearest destination entrance.

Leashed dogs are allowed in ordinary outdoor areas under posted rules; attractions, playgrounds, gardens, food areas, events, and athletic facilities may restrict them.

This is New Orleans' broadest family park, but a successful visit needs a short destination list. Free playgrounds and sculpture pair well; ticketed rides, Storyland, and the Children's Museum require schedule checks.

Streetcar, bus, bike, Lafitte Greenway, rideshare, and driving reach different park edges. The Canal streetcar terminus is useful for the southern core but not every northern destination.
