Audubon Riverview and The Fly

Audubon Riverview, locally called The Fly, is the Mississippi-side lawn and picnic area reached beyond the zoo, with ships, sunsets, sports, heat, and limited shade.

Free curb and park-edge parking is dispersed along Magazine Street, St. Charles Avenue, Walnut Street, and Riverview. Zoo demand and events can fill the closest spaces.

Public outdoor areas generally open daily around 5:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m.; Audubon Zoo, golf, shelters, and events use separate hours.

Restrooms are concentrated near playgrounds, shelters, zoo, golf, and Riverview facilities and may follow facility hours.

Park paths, lawns, playgrounds, lagoon, labyrinth, rookery viewing, and The Fly are free. Zoo, golf, food, rentals, permits, and events cost separately.

The paved loop and major developed areas are generally accessible; curb transitions, older paths, grass, crowding, and the Riverview approach vary.

Leashed dogs are allowed in ordinary park and Riverview areas; keep pets out of playgrounds, zoo, golf course, bird rookery habitat, and posted restricted spaces.

The loop, lagoon, playgrounds, zoo, picnics, and river watching provide strong options. Choose either the main park or The Fly first to avoid a long, confusing transfer.

St. Charles streetcar and buses serve the Uptown side; biking and rideshare work well. Reaching The Fly still requires crossing to the river side.
