Wyandotte County Lake Park

Current county rules list lake access 6:00 a.m.-midnight March 1-October 15 and 7:00 a.m.-midnight October 16-April 30. Gates and facilities may close for weather or operations.

Numerous lots and shelters ring the lake. Navigate to the marina, Schlagle Library, Kids Fishing Pond, trailhead, memorial or reserved shelter rather than circling from the general pin.

The lake loop is long and destinations sit on different shores. Download or photograph the park map before losing orientation.

Restrooms are associated with the marina, library, shelters and developed recreation areas; seasonal closures and remote trails limit availability.

General park access is free. Fishing, boating, marina services, shelter reservations and programs may require licenses, permits or fees.

Developed facilities and some shelters provide accessible routes, while gravel parking, shoreline slopes and natural trails vary.

Leashed dogs are allowed in ordinary park areas, with off-leash activity limited to the designated dog park under posted rules.

Schlagle Library, the Kids Fishing Pond, shelters and lake overlooks offer the simplest family visit; bring supplies because services are spread out.

Public transit is very limited; driving is the practical way to reach and move around the park.

Boating seasons, fishing regulations, gate hours and weather closures matter here. Do not rely on an old event page for current access; check county alerts and posted signs.

Check current Kansas City metro weather and operator alerts. Missouri River conditions, flash flooding, lake status, heat, severe storms, snow, ice and high winds can close trails or facilities independently.
