Monon Trail

The Monon Trail page does not publish a separate schedule. Indy Parks' system rules state that park hours are dawn to dusk; posted closures, construction and connected-park hours can supersede that general rule.

There is no single trail parking lot. Choose a legal access point before driving; the operator identifies connections at parks including Frank and Judy O'Bannon Park, Canterbury Park and Marott Park, but each location has its own parking and construction conditions.

The Indianapolis segment runs from near East 10th Street to 96th Street. Choose a neighborhood or connection first—downtown/10th Street, Fall Creek, the State Fairgrounds, Canterbury, Broad Ripple or Marott Woods—rather than navigating to one generic midpoint.

The operator does not list trailwide restrooms. Comfort stations or indoor facilities may be available at selected connected parks and businesses, but hours and access vary; do not plan a long trip around an assumed facility.

Indy Parks lists no admission fee for ordinary Monon Trail use. Parking, transit, food, events and separately operated attractions may charge.

Use the official trail map to choose an access point and review street crossings. The operator does not publish a trailwide accessibility guarantee, and curb cuts, construction, detours and connected-park surfaces can vary by segment.

Indy Parks requires dogs to remain on a leash shorter than 20 feet outside designated dog parks. Keep animals controlled around bicycles, runners, crossings and crowded Broad Ripple segments, and remove waste.

The trail can support short family rides and walks, but it is a shared transportation corridor with street crossings and faster users. Choose a short segment near a connected park and supervise children closely.

IndyGo's 2026 system map shows multiple routes crossing or approaching the Monon, including service around 10th Street, the State Fairgrounds, Broad Ripple and 86th Street. Check the current route page for the selected access point.

The trail connects with Fall Creek Greenway, Central Canal Towpath and the White River trail network. Construction at Canterbury Park is expected through late 2026, so verify current detours and avoid treating every adjacent park as an open trailhead.

Check National Weather Service Indianapolis forecasts before a long trip. Heat, lightning, high wind, heavy rain, snow and ice can make exposed bridges, shaded pavement and street crossings unsafe even when the corridor is not formally closed.
