Gate hours vary by month: 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. in December and January; 7:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. in November and February; 7:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. in October and March; 7:00 a.m.-8:30 p.m. in September and April; 7:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. in May; and 7:00 a.m.-9:30 p.m. June through August.

Vehicle admission includes use of park parking. Enter at 5700 North Eagle Creek Parkway from 56th Street or 7100 North Eagle Creek Parkway from 71st Street, then follow the official park map to the selected facility; the two entrances do not provide equally short approaches to every destination.

Choose the destination before entering. The 56th Street entrance is the practical approach for many southern and central facilities, while the 71st Street entrance is closer to the northern nature-center and birding area.

The official map identifies restrooms at developed facilities and picnic areas, with the nature centers providing the most reliable staffed access during their shorter building hours. Remote trails and shoreline areas should not be assumed to have nearby facilities.

Day admission is $6 per resident vehicle, $8 per nonresident vehicle, $1 per hiker or bicyclist, and $15 per bus. A car-top boat launch is $3 per vessel plus vehicle admission; rentals, reservations, dog-zone access and commercial attractions can cost extra.

The two nature centers and major developed facilities have paved approaches, but wooded trails, shorelines and older recreation areas vary. Indy Parks reports an active accessibility-upgrade project for Pin Oak Trail; verify the route needed before relying on unfinished improvements.

Dogs must remain leashed except inside the Canine Companion Zone. Keep pets away from the swimming beach and wildlife-sensitive areas where posted, and carry out waste.

The nature centers, playgrounds and seasonal beach support very different visits. Confirm center hours, lifeguard presence and weather-dependent operations before promising a particular activity.

The 2026 IndyGo system map shows service near the 56th Street corridor, but the park is large and internal destinations are widely separated. Check the trip planner for the chosen entrance and expect substantial walking if arriving without a car.

Swim only when lifeguards are present. Bicycles are limited to roadways, boats must follow horsepower and launch rules, and the waterfowl sanctuary prohibits watercraft. Do not leave valuables in vehicles.
