Lake Fishing Area

Lake Fishing Area is a distinct mapped destination within Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden; navigate to this point instead of the general park pin and check posted conditions on arrival.

Free parking is distributed through the long garden drive. Choose the visitor center, lake, a named collection, pavilion or campground before driving in; event and fishing reservations do not guarantee parking.

Catch-and-release fishing is offered only in reserved Wednesday and Saturday sessions; it is not an all-day drop-in activity.

Restrooms are available at the visitor center and developed garden and camping areas. Use the mapped facility before entering long collection roads or lake trails.

Garden admission and scheduled catch-and-release fishing are free. Weekend camping requires a paid permit; reserved programs may have limited capacity.

The visitor center, roads and several developed areas have paved access, while lakeside and collection trails can be wet, grassy or uneven. Ask staff for the best current mobility route.

Pets are not permitted in Honolulu Botanical Gardens. Qualified service animals are governed separately; protect wildlife and plant collections.

The lake, enormous mountain backdrop and plant collections create an easy-paced family outing. Fishing is offered Wednesday and Saturday in reserved sessions; children require adult supervision around open water.
