Fort De Soto Park

Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to sunset. Campground, boat-ramp, museum, concession and pier operations have separate schedules, and severe weather can close exposed areas.

A $6 daily vehicle parking fee applies and is paid by app, pay-by-text or onsite terminals; mobile payment adds a $0.35 convenience fee. Pay stations are distributed near the beaches, piers, dog park, fort and headquarters.

The park is enormous and driving between destinations takes time. Navigate specifically to North Beach, East Beach, Historic Fort, dog beach, a fishing pier, campground or boat ramp rather than the general park pin.

Restrooms and outdoor rinse showers are distributed near major beaches, picnic areas, campground and developed facilities. Remote trail and shoreline stretches have fewer services.

The daily parking fee is $6 per vehicle. Camping, boat launching, concessions, rentals and reservations cost separately; ordinary beach, fort and trail access do not add a general admission fee.

A 2,200-foot Barrier-Free Nature Trail, accessible facilities and beach-access features serve visitors with mobility needs. Sand, tides and storm damage can still alter practical access.

Dogs are allowed on the designated dog beach and in separate fenced large- and small-dog areas with water stations. Outside designated areas, leash and exclusion rules apply; dogs are not allowed on ordinary swimming beaches.

North Beach, playgrounds, shallow-water areas, fort exploration and picnic shelters support a full family day. Conditions can change rapidly, so check flags, tides, heat and storms and bring substantial water and sun protection.

There is no practical frequent transit for most visitors. Driving, cycling for experienced riders or a prearranged ride are the usual options; verify return transportation before being dropped off.

A burn ban has been in effect since February 2026, and construction or maintenance can affect facilities. Check rip-current, lightning, red-tide/water-quality, nesting-wildlife and County closure notices on the day of the trip.
