Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

March-October: closed Monday; Tuesday-Friday and Sunday 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Saturday 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., with trails closing at 6:30 p.m. November-February hours end at 6:00 p.m., with trails closing at 5:30 p.m.; holiday closures apply.

Free onsite parking is available near the environmental education center entrance. Arrive early for cool-weather weekends and scheduled programs, when the closest spaces can fill.

Enter from Country Club Way South and check in at the Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center before using preserve trails. Trail access closes before the front gate hours.

Restrooms are available near the education-center and developed entrance area during operating hours. Use them before longer loops; interior trail facilities are limited.

Daily admission is $3 per adult, $1.50 for children ages 3-16 and free under age 3. Annual passes, camps, tours and special programs have separate pricing.

The entrance facilities and some routes support mobility access, while natural trails include sand, roots, uneven surfaces and exposed sections. Ask staff for the most suitable current route.

Pets are not appropriate on preserve trails because of protected wildlife; follow posted preserve restrictions. Qualified service animals are handled under applicable access rules.

The raptor aviary, habitat trails and programs create a strong wildlife-learning visit. Bring water, insect repellent and sun protection, and never approach or feed alligators or other wildlife.

Local bus service reaches the Lakewood area, but the final approach and limited schedule should be checked carefully. A car or rideshare is typically simpler.

The nature center's exhibits are currently closed for renovation, although the preserve and trails remain open. Mondays are closed, trail entry ends before facility closing, and heat or lightning can shorten a safe visit.

Check current Tampa Bay weather and operator alerts. Heat, lightning, tropical weather, heavy rain, wind, tides, rip currents and water-quality notices can close trails, beaches, splash pads, boat access or facilities independently.
