Sloan's Lake Park

Denver urban parks are open daily 5:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Buildings, restrooms, water features, attractions, events, and seasonal recreation use separate schedules.

Several free lots and curb areas ring the park; the northwest lot serves the boat ramp, while the new playground is near West 17th Avenue and Utica Street.

Choose the northwest ramp, south-shore picnic areas, or West 17th playground before navigating because the lake circumference is substantial.

Restrooms are generally seasonal portalets or event facilities; verify before starting the full loop.

Park, loop, playgrounds, and picnic areas are free; boating permits, fishing licenses, reservations, and events may cost.

The mostly paved loop is accessible but long and exposed, with street crossings and limited shade.

Leashed dogs are allowed; keep them out of wildlife areas and clean up near the heavily used path.

The new playground and broad lake views are family friendly, but water edges, sun, wind, and the long loop require planning.

Bus routes serve Sheridan Boulevard and surrounding streets; biking is practical from west Denver neighborhoods.

Boating and fishing follow separate rules and permits. The lake can be windy, icy, or affected by water-quality notices, and the loop has little shelter.

Check Denver's hourly temperature, UV index, wind, lightning, air quality, snow and ice. High elevation sun is intense, afternoon storms form quickly, and exposed lakes, lawns, hills, and river corridors can feel much colder or hotter than nearby streets.
