East Garden and public art

The East Garden and surrounding paths connect public art, seating, cultural venues, convention activity, and downtown transit.

There is no free garden lot. Use BART, Muni, walking, cycling, or a paid SoMa garage; conventions and downtown events sharply increase demand.

The gardens are open daily 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Public restrooms are open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; museums, carousel, play areas, food, and events keep separate schedules.

Public restrooms are open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., shorter than garden hours. Partner attractions have separate customer facilities.

Garden admission, lawns, public art, and many programs are free. Museums, carousel, skating, bowling, food, parking, and selected events charge separately.

Developed garden paths, elevators, ramps, and adjacent cultural facilities provide multiple routes, but event setups and the multi-block layout can change circulation.

Follow posted garden rules and keep pets controlled around lawns, children's areas, fountains, food, public art, and crowded events. Service animals are allowed where required.

The children's garden, play circle, carousel, Creativity Museum, lawns, and nearby food form a strong downtown family cluster, with separate hours and fees.
