Rivera hammocks and seating

The Rivera zone provides hammocks, elevated surf-perch seating, and a quieter pause between active recreation areas, all exposed to wind and fog.

Private vehicles are not allowed on the park promenade. Use neighborhood transit, walking, cycling, rideshare, or legal parking near a named cross street without blocking residents.

Park hours are 5 a.m. to midnight. Temporary restrooms, programs, construction areas, and pop-up amenities use separate schedules.

A temporary public restroom is located at Noriega. Do not assume restroom coverage at every entrance; identify the closest open facility before a long walk.

General park, promenade, seating, public art, and permanent outdoor features are free. Programs, vendors, permits, parking, and rentals may cost.

The former roadway provides a broad, generally level promenade, with access conditions varying at cross streets and temporary installations.

Dogs must follow posted leash, waste, habitat, and event rules. Keep pets away from restored dunes, wildlife, children's play, and fast bicycle traffic.

Nature play, skate and bike features, art, seating, and the broad car-free route are family-friendly. Shipwreck Cove is under installation and expected later in 2026, not yet guaranteed open.

Muni lines reach several west-side cross streets. Pick the stop closest to the desired section rather than walking the full two miles unexpectedly.
