Coastal Trail and Mile Rock Beach

The Coastal Trail reaches Mile Rock Beach by steep stairs and natural paths; cliff and surf conditions make this a more demanding route.

Merrie Way near Lands End Lookout is the primary lot and fills quickly. Legion of Honor and Fort Miley approaches serve different trail sections; do not expect one lot to fit every route.

Outdoor trails and overlooks follow posted Golden Gate National Recreation Area access. Lands End Lookout, restrooms, parking, and nearby attractions have separate hours.

Restrooms are concentrated near Lands End Lookout and selected developed facilities. There are no dependable facilities on remote trail or beach sections.

Trails, overlooks, Sutro Baths ruins, memorials, and general outdoor access are free. Parking and nearby attractions or food may cost separately.

Wheelchair-accessible trails begin at the Merrie Way parking lot, but stairs, steep grades, sand, roots, and cliffside natural paths limit many routes.

Follow current GGNRA leash and habitat rules. Keep dogs controlled near cliffs, stairs, wildlife, crowded overlooks, and narrow trail traffic.

The Lookout, Sutro Baths overlook, and short accessible paths work for many families; long stairs to beaches and cliffside trails require close supervision.
