El Dorado East Regional Park

Use 7550 East Spring Street, Long Beach, CA 90815. Select the exact park section, picnic area, playground, lake, or Nature Center before arrival because the regional park is large.

The park is open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. March 1-October 31 and 7 a.m.-5 p.m. November 1-February 29. The last vehicle may enter 30 minutes before closing.

Entry is $6 Monday-Thursday, $7 Friday, $8 Saturday-Sunday, and $9 on listed holidays. Payment is cashless by credit, debit, or smart pay; pedestrians and bicyclists do not pay a vehicle fee.

The Nature Center preserves 105 acres with two miles of dirt trails and a quarter-mile paved trail around lakes, stream, and woodland. Trails are open Tuesday-Sunday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with no entry after 4:30 p.m.; the center is closed Mondays and specified holidays.

Yes. Developed family and group-picnic zones include playgrounds, including the improved Sycamore Grove area. Use the official park map to choose the closest entrance and parking section.

Yes. The 1.5-acre dog park is in Area II near the southeast corner and is reached through the Spring Street entrance. It has separate large- and small-dog areas, double gates, benches, a drinking fountain, waste bags, and accessible features. It closes Tuesdays from 7:00-11:00 a.m. for maintenance.

Yes. The City renovated gender-neutral, individually accessible restroom stalls and upgraded accessible parking, paths, and walkways. Restrooms are distributed by activity area, so use the park map and choose the closest facility before settling at a lake, field, playground, or picnic grove.

Recent work added or upgraded accessible parking stalls, repaved paths of travel, improved walkways, renovated accessible restroom stalls, restriped lots, clearer directional signs, and replacement hydration stations. Conditions still vary among nature trails, lawns, lakeshores, and older recreation areas.

The current park map identifies Shelters A and B, and mature trees shade parts of Arbor Day, Sycamore, Lakeview, and other picnic groves. Lakeshores, playgrounds, archery and model-aircraft areas, parking, and open lawns can still be exposed. The Nature Center and park office follow separate hours and should not be treated as always-open refuge. Picnic shelters and trees are unsafe in lightning or severe wind; use an open substantial building or enclosed vehicle.

Yes. Long Beach Transit Route 104 stops on Spring Street at El Dorado Park, near the park's north edge. The regional park is 388 acres, so the bus stop may still leave a substantial walk to a particular lake, picnic grove, playground, dog park, or Nature Center; verify the destination and return schedule in the live LBT planner before traveling.

No. El Dorado East has playgrounds and stocked fishing lakes but no listed splash pad or public swimming pool. Long Beach explicitly prohibits swimming in the park's lakes and streams, as well as personal boats and flotation devices. Treat every lake as a fishing, wildlife, or model-boating feature rather than water play. Use a separately operated Long Beach pool or beach for swimming and check its schedule and conditions.

El Dorado Nature Center is the park district's clearest interpretive landmark. Cross the wooden bridge over the lake to the small island Visitor Center, then choose a quarter-mile paved trail or up to two miles of dirt trails through lakes, stream, and forest habitat. The Nature Center is a distinct destination with separate hours and rules from the regional park's fishing lakes, playgrounds, picnic areas, archery range, and model-aircraft field.
