Kincaid Park

Use the Raspberry Road entrance and Kincaid Chalet at the west end of Raspberry Road for the main trail, stadium, and visitor hub. Other trail connections exist, so choose the trailhead shown on the official map.

Kincaid Outdoor Center is currently listed daily from 12:30 to 8:00 p.m. Raspberry Road gates are listed daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (to 11:00 p.m. June through August), while the Jodhpur gate is listed daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Facilities and programmed areas can close independently.

More than 40 kilometers of routes support cross-country skiing, running, walking, and mountain biking. Trail uses and grooming vary by season; use the current ski or summer trail map rather than assuming every route allows every activity.

Yes. Kincaid provides the western connection to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and access toward the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge. Plan distance and return transportation before combining park and coastal routes.

Yes. The main Raspberry Road approach has substantial parking around Kincaid Chalet and the stadium area. Ski races, tournaments, rentals, and major events can fill or redirect the closest spaces.

Restrooms and visitor services are concentrated at Kincaid Chalet and developed event areas, not throughout the trail network. Chalet hours and holiday closures can affect indoor access.

Clear conditions can reveal Cook Inlet, Mount Susitna, Denali, and the Chugach Mountains. The park also supports bird and wildlife viewing near the coastal refuge; observe animals from a safe distance.

Check current grooming, race closures, weather, wildlife notices, gate times, and seasonal trail-use rules. Snow, freeze-thaw, darkness, and organized events can change which routes are practical or open.

Kincaid has a designated Hundeplatz dog-training area at the World Cup Start Area. Use that named area for training or off-leash activity and follow posted controls; ordinary park trails have their own seasonal dog, ski-track, and wildlife rules.

Kincaid includes a playground, sledding hill and amphitheater, soccer complex, disc golf, trails, and broad viewing areas in addition to competitive skiing facilities. These destinations are spread out, so use the official map rather than expecting them beside the chalet entrance.

The park has an 18-hole disc golf course plus field archery and biathlon ranges. General park access is free, but organized use, range operations, tournaments, and maintenance follow partner or municipal schedules; confirm the specific facility before arriving.

The Kincaid Outdoor Center, commonly called the Chalet, is the park's principal indoor facility, and a picnic shelter serves the playground area connected by an asphalt path. The Chalet has posted operating, rental, and holiday schedules and should not be assumed open whenever trails are open. Forest provides wind and sun cover on many routes, but coastal overlooks, stadiums, ranges, and exposed winter trails remain vulnerable; during wildfire smoke, high wind, extreme cold, or severe weather, use a confirmed-open building or vehicle.

Yes. The Kincaid Park picnic pavilion serves the playground area and can be reserved through Anchorage Parks and Recreation in full-day or half-day blocks. A paid reservation provides exclusive use of the shelter, tables, benches, and any listed fireplace; the Kincaid Outdoor Center is a separate reservable indoor facility. Contact the facility first for availability and current fees, especially during ski events, races, and peak summer weekends.

Kincaid Park does not list a designated swimming area, public pool, or splash pad. Little Campbell Lake is one of the park's natural and trail-based features, while Anchorage lists its supervised swimming programs at separate municipal pools. Do not promise lake swimming based only on the map; use a listed municipal pool and confirm its current open-swim schedule when aquatics are the priority.
